Acrylic Materials List

Materials to get you started with Acrylic paint. Links to online shops have been provided to help you find the items. Some great places online to get art supplies are: officeworks.com.au, riotstores.com.au, artshedonline.com.au , ebay.com.au and arttoart.net You can find these items elsewhere but i’ve included links below from these 5 online shops.

Table easel

  • Desk easel from Officeworks - Find online

  • If you don’t get yourself an easel then you can easily lean your painting up against something from home

Palette paper

  • Palette paper - Find online

  • Clipboard to hold your palette paper in place

  • *you can use palette paper directly from pad and tear it off once you’ve finished using it instead of tearing it off prior and placing on clipboard

  • *you can use a variety of things found at home as you palette like plates, tiles etc. just be sure to clean up once finished so the paint doesn’t stick

Canvas

  • 12”x16” 2 pack online at Officeworks - Find online

  • *The sizes that we use in class are 12”x16 and 16”x20”

  • *You may want to try a different size or surface to paint on while at home. Example: wood panel

Grey background paint

Items you may have at home

  • Paper towel

  • pencil

  • pencil sharpener

  • ruler

  • Large plastic container to be filled with water

  • small plastic container for water

Paint

Brushes

  • You can find many different size and styles of brushes in stores and on the internet. I usually get my brushes from a variety store in St Ives called “Zap variety” and also Officeworks. I find the softer brushes are the best kind. Finding brushes of different size and shapes work well so have a look around online and see what you might like to try. Clean up

  • “The Masters” brush cleaner - Find online

  • detergent

  • * Remember steps for clean up include rinsing the acrylic brushes out in water then washing in warm soapy water. Let brushes dry flat

  • If you aren’t able to get “The Masters” brush cleaner this is okay you can use warm soapy water
